KR launches Opus 5

KR introduces Opus 5 "Future's Intelligent Hospital Bed" at Health & Rehab 2014 in Copenhagen in September. Opus 5 is a completely new hospital and care bed, which is meant to challenge and optimize work procedures surrounding patient care both in Denmark and internationally.

The Opus 5 "FIH" is the result of a public-private partnership (PPP) between Central Denmark Region, the bed manufacturer KR and several other project partners. The project was initiated in 2008, at the initiative of Karin Valbæk, the former Head Nurse at Randers Regional Hospital .

"Hospital bed design has remained unchanged for more than 30 years! ... It must surely be time for something new!"

Karin Valbæk, former Head Nurse at Randers Regional Hospital

The development proces has henceforth been driven by "firebrands" in Denmark, mainly focusing on three main subjects. The security, comfort and independence of the patient. The security, working environment and efficiency of the care staff. And infrastructure and communication in the health care sector today and in the future. The result is a bed with several innovative features, which have been developed and tested by the users represented in the project. The bed can be elevated to a vertical position, so that the patient can exit the bed by the foot end. The bed can also be tilted sideways, up to ten degrees to each side, which makes it easier to move the patient in the bed. Digitally, the bed is prepared for different types of sensors and other digital equipment.

"The new intelligent hospital bed has developed into something more than simply a place where the patient lies. It has become an integrated part of the clinical work in connection with care, mobilisation and transport."

Liv-Janne Fiksdahl Hansen, CCO at KR

KR will demonstrate the new bed at our stand no. C3-024 at Health & Rehab 2014 in Copenhagen on the 9th to the 11th of September.
